BARNEY BURMAN – Producer/Special Make-Up FX Design
Barney Burman finds great joy in designing and creating the special characters for Grimm in his studio in North Hollywood. It’s almost as exhilarating as being there when they come to life on set in Portland.
Since opening his first FX company, Proteus Make-up FX Team in 2004, and his new studio, B2FX in 2011, Barney has been able to do exactly that for films such as Mission: Impossible III, Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, Blades of Glory and Camille, starring James Franco and Sienna Miller. In 2008, Barney was hired to design the make-up for Tom Cruise in the summer blockbuster Tropic Thunder.
Barney is a third-generation monster maker, literally raised in and around the art of make-up effects. His grandfather made masks and props for the original Wolfman and the Twilight Zone series, and his father, renowned Make-up FX Artist Thomas R Burman, started building creature suits on his son when Barney was just 8 years old. His skills and philosophy paid off handsomely when Barney was honored with an Academy Award for his work in 2009’s reboot of Star Trek, directed by frequent collaborator JJ Abrams.

KALIE ACHESON – Production Designer
